Goodbye Columbia Rd!
Final Party.jpg

After 22 years serving our wonderful Columbia Road community, we are both excited and sad to announce that Stringray Globe and its family are turning over a new chapter.

As of Sunday 10th April 2022, we are permanently closed.

This hasn’t been an easy decision, as we truly cherish the support we have had from our customers, friends and extended “Globe” family all the way, never more so than over these past two most challenging years. We wouldn’t have made it through without you! But after 25+ years in this industry, we know it’s the right decision for us, and it’s time to hand over the reins to an enthusiastic new generation with fresh ideas.

Thank you to all of you who have made the effort to come in and say goodbye over the course of our last week. It means more than we can put into words; we've been staggered by the love we have been shown and our hearts are full. We will miss you all tremendously.

The space will be closed over the next few weeks for refurbishment, and I hope you will join us in giving Cheeky Chicos a very warm welcome when they open!

Wishing you all the very best, and with all our love one last time,

The Stringray Globe Team

More than 20 years have passed since Iva and Raytcho took on The Globe pub on Columbia Road and turned it into a thriving pizzeria.

Their first venture, Stringray Café in Highbury (opened in 1998), was so named for the light sculpture installed there by artist Paul Friedlander. Keen to preserve The Globe’s character, they retained many of the pub’s original features, including the stained glass and globe lights you still see today – and so Stringray Globe was born, a nod to both heritages!

our food

We aspire to create a cosy, friendly atmosphere in which to enjoy delicious, high-quality Mediterranean food – a home from home, a ‘local’ for our community to enjoy.

We pride ourselves on our traditional Italian pizzas (for prices rarely seen in London!) but also on our efforts to cater inclusively – with a varied menu, seasonal specials, and long-established gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options, we hope there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

We call Stringray Globe home, but there is no home without a family.

Many thanks to all of you that have been part of this family over the past 20 years, and we look forward to seeing what the next 20 will bring!
