Stringray Globe is an independent, family-run Italian restaurant and bar, and we have been serving our local community for more than 20 years now! We are located on beautiful Columbia Road, home to the famous Sunday Flower Market, and in the heart of East London.
More than 20 years have passed since Iva and Raytcho took on The Globe pub on Columbia Road and turned it into a thriving pizzeria.
Their first venture, Stringray Café in Highbury (opened in 1998), was so named for the light sculpture installed there by artist Paul Friedlander. Keen to preserve The Globe’s character, they retained many of the pub’s original features, including the stained glass and globe lights you still see today – and so Stringray Globe was born, a nod to both heritages!
We aspire to create a cosy, friendly atmosphere in which to enjoy delicious, high-quality Mediterranean food – a home from home, a ‘local’ for our community to enjoy.
We pride ourselves on our traditional Italian pizzas (for prices rarely seen in London!) but also on our efforts to cater inclusively – with a varied menu, seasonal specials, and long-established gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options, we hope there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
We call Stringray Globe home, but there is no home without a family.
Many thanks to all of you that have been part of this family over the past 20 years, and we look forward to seeing what the next 20 will bring!
